Dreaming of a Silver & White Christmas

A complete redo for my spot today. The silver wall hangings in the backround are another, "hey mom got them out of the dumpster for ya". Gotta love kids that are always on the look out for the mom. I love how they give my whole spot that sparkle.

New Collection

Here is my newest collection. Last week I posted a small collection, placed it carefully in my spot and 10 minutes later a customer purchased the entire collection. This weeks collection created from repurposed angora sweaters, linen, vintage lace and buttons. Christmas trees and stars are the new addition. I am already working on next week's collection. Have a great weekend. Lori

WEDNESDAY'S WORD ~ DISAPOINTMENT ~

disapointment: n. 1.the act or an instance of diasppointing 2.to fail to come up to the expectation or hope: frustrate.

So here you have it, this is what disapointment looks like when you are a 15 year old freshmand in high school. All set and expected to go to state in cross country and then in a split second a bicycle accident took away his opportunity. Being a responsible boy he was on his way to the band concert after cross country pracitce. Mom was out of town on business and dad still at work Luke took it upon himself to get to the concert on time. Thankfully he was not hit by a car, no head injury, just a broken collar bone. Surgery scheduled for next week will give him a steel plated collar bone. He will have to sit out wrestling season this year but is determined to make it to state in track season. We are all disapointed. Gotta love a good kid that is responsible, motivated and independant. Love my boy.

WEDNESDAY'S WORD ~ CROSS COUNTRY ~

CROSS COUNTRY
Proceeding over countryside(as across fields and through woods)and not by roads.
A high school sport that recieves little or no recognition at our current high school. My son is the fastest runner on his team, is ranked 18th in his district and has improved his personal best consistently throughout the season. This week he competes at districts and hopes to make the top 20 so he can continue on to the state competition. This will be so awesome for him as a freshman.

A jump in the lake after a race. Yes it was freezing and he froze his _____ off.
So bummed the pix are blurry, cause ya know he is so cute and the blurr just does not do him justice. Oh ya he does not want to be called cute the word is "hot", oh but not from the mom. Still learning how to be mom to a big boy.

Oh for the LOVE of a Latte

Anyone and everyone that knows me at all, knows my favorite drink is a "venti, extra hot - 180 degrees, 2% latte" from Starbucks. Today the barista really made my day special. He was cute too.

Favorites from my spot

Just a few of my current favorites in my spot. A sweet pair of German made lamps,

an orange plastic pumpkin covered in words,
framed junk pieces turned into wall art

and a birds nest that dropped out of a tree from my yard.

As you can see I am still having fun with dictionary pages.

New Looks for My Spot

Old bed springs make a great disguse for the ugly light fixture on the ceiling. My son and one of his friends were my great assistants in getting this installed. Neither one of them could figure out why in the world I was doing such a crazy thing. I needed their strength to complete this project. It was a bit of an ordeal as you can imagine the springs are quite heavy and standing on a ladder holding them above one's head, arms aching and sweat dripping from our brows. A simple bribe of choice treats at the store was all they needed to quit complaining about this absolutely crazy endeavor. Looks good don't ya think?

~~Wednesday's Word~~

~ENTRANCE~
noun 1.the act of entering 2.the means or place of entry 3.power or permission to enter 4.the first apperance of an actor in a scene.

Here is the entrance of my home prepared for the graduation party. I am in love with the vintage baskets I just purchased from a good friend. If these baskets could talk - why, - they would tell a multitude of stories as they have witnessed genrations of Lewis County brides in the grandeur of the decades in which they made their entrance and walked the isle to their beloved. Oh how fun it would be to hear the stories of these memorable entrances. What is your favorite entrance?

Meet a Man and his Wife from the Northwoods

There is man from the Northwoods who is one of my favorite people. He lives with another one of my favorite people his wife. Toghether they have created a wonderful life on a lake where they live the majority of the year. While home at the lake together they are busy with many projects. Some of those projects find their way to my home. This bench is made with the boards from the old dock. They had it in pieces in their trunk and drove all the way from the Northwoods for my daughters graduation to bring me the prized bench. It is such a treat for me to have these things crafted especially for me by two of my favortie people. Meet my Dad, Addison and Mom Peggy. Aren't they the cutest.

Thankful Thursday

Rhondi at Rose Colored Glasses hosted a Thankful Thursday. I tried to participate yesterday but had trouble with all the posting instructions. I am still learning this technical jargin. Anyway I am Thankful on Thursday and again on Friday for Water. I have often thought that of all the utilities we enjoy, I never want to be without water. I am thankful for good, clean, inexspensive, easily obtained and abundant water. Many people on this planet are unable to access enough water to sustain health let alone water the flowers in the garden. What a luxury to have abundant water so that I can grow lovely flowers to enjoy. Truly my life is one of privilage. I am so Thankful.

~Bed Springs~What to do?~

What to do with vintage bed springs. Actually these are springs from a very old bench. I have lots of them and several sizes. I need a few more ideas. Do you have some to share? If so, please leave a comment and share your great ideas. Have a fun day. Lori

Back Again After Graduation Weekend

The weekend began with Rebekah addressing her class at baccalaureate followed by the adwards ceremony. Congrats Rebekah on graduating with honors.
Last day of School was the traditional Senior Parade. She dressed the part of the local farm community member. She is the most beautiful graduate I know,(coming from the mother).
If you know Rebekah you know she would not let graduation happen without being one of the speakers and then Adna has the rich history and traditon of the silly string at the end of the ceremony. My third born daughter with the sunniest personality, so of course the party was yellow. What a great fun weekend we had celebrating.

He's Gone

Yes that's right my "Man-a-Kin" is gone. I went back to my spot to get a better picture of him in his new location and He was gone. Off to a new home, a new owner who reports that she has a most excellent spot in her home just for him. I will miss him, however no "Man-a-Kin" is irreplaceable. I will be looking for a replacement. We all know that our first luv is never completely forgotten. Now this is the best remembrance I have of him. I am so disappointed with the glare in the backround. Oh well, we all know I need photography tutors.
